She said yes!

My brother-in-law, Carter, asked his adorable girlfriend to be his wife on Friday night and she said YES!  {Not that anyone thought otherwise}  Here's a few pics of the proposal...

So cute, right?!  I got to meet Debra and hang out with her when Blakely and I took our girls trip to Utah.  Melissa and I {my other sister-in-law/ Jeff's little sister} got to give our stamp of approval and make sure she would fit in with the Wrights.  She passed with flying colors!  We love her and I'm so glad she'll be a part of the family come July!  Carter is like a little brother to me.  Jeff and I have dated since high school and I was the lifeguard of their neighborhood pool for years.  So, needless to say, I bossed Carter and his little snot-nosed friends around when they were being little punks.  I even went as far as to kick him out one day when he was being extra annoying.  The weird part came when I was invited over for dinner that night.  It was cool though, Lynn was pround of me that I would kick her son out...she was quite aware of the trouble Carter could cause.  Anyway, it's just funny to me now to see Carter all grown up and doing adult things like getting married.  Let's just hope Debra knows what she's getting into and would kick Carter out too if he's being a little punk again!  Oh, I kid :)

The great thing about them getting married....for me anyway.....is that I get to go shopping for something cute to wear!  I think I'll even get my hair cut.  It's been in major need of some work and this is the perfect excuse, right?!  I wish I had a million dollars to spend at Anthropologie.  I LOVE that store and was drooling on my keybord last night looking at their new dress collection.

I know the last two are kind similar, but I don't care.  I would happily take both please!  I'm just excited to have a reason to get dressed up in something cute.  I really try to make an effort to get showered and dressed everyday in something presentable.  I do not want to be one of those moms that just slobs around in sweats all day.  I will not let that happen.  Ok, well that is all for now.  I hear my daughter stirring around in her crib, talking to her bear.  I must go to her so I can kiss those squishy cheeks!  ta-ta

fleeting moments

This was said by a fellow blogger and I could not love and agree with it more.  Jeff and I have had discussions about Blakely and her night-time shenanigans.  He thinks we need to let her cry it out and get back to sleep on her own.  I agree with this in theory, but I am finding it impossible to lay still in my bed and listen to my sweet baby cry and call out for me.  It's like I can feel my heart literally pounding out of my chest longing to be next to hers.  I don't want to be a push over and I don't want to be coddling my child until she's 5 and simply can't fall asleep on her own.  But for now she is still my baby, and just like Kelle said, it's fleeting. 

In other news, we have been LOVING this gorgeous spring-time weather!  Miss B and I have been enjoying long afternoon walks and swinging in the park.    Jeff and I took her to the zoo this last weekend and had a blast!  It was a spontaneous decision...the best kind.  It's one of the things I love about us.  We don't have to plan out some big adventure, we just get in the car and go.  However, I forgot the camera--Fail.  But Jeff and I will remember that day and that's all that matters.  The world is so fascinating when you're showing it to a baby for the first time.  She was fascinated by all the animals and loved every minute.  So did we.  I think you start to appreciate the small things more, because to a baby, even wind in the leaves is amazing. 

Sorry for the poor quality.  It was taken on my phone during a walk.  I just love this little girl and her sunhat.  The only thing I don't like about this time of year is the pollen.  It's been killer this year!  My car is yellow, my eyes are red, but at least the trees are green.  Oh well, at least the pollen is.....fleeting.

10 months and Jeff's Birthday

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I'm 5 days late in posting this, does anyone care....probably not.  On Saturday, my sweet baby turned 10 months and my smokin' hot hubby turned 28.  Needless to say we had a lot of celebrating to do!  Jeff had to work in the morning so I whipped up these little goodies.

Probably 10 lbs later....I'm still eating cupcakes!  I can't help myself!  We went to lunch and then came home to veg out for a while before getting ready to go out for some mexican.  Jeff LOVES mexican food so I knew it was far better than anything I could make for him.  Let me take a moment to brag on my sweet sweet husband.  I love this man.  He is so good to me and takes such good care of us.  He would happily give me and the little miss everything before he does anything for himself.  He is a true provider for our family.  This was the 11th birthday of his that we have celebrated together, and I can honestly say that every year keeps getting better.  He still gives me the warm and fuzzies.  I know I married my best friend and the man God intended to be my partner forever.

On to the little miss.  Blakely is 10 months!!  Double digits now people!  She's such a big girl.  I am on serious patrol now because this little girl is everywhere.  She's cruising around and officially crawled on hands and knees over the weekend.  Watch out dogs.  One of her favorite past times is her nightly bath.  She splashes and giggles and screams and tries to eat the face off her rubber ducky.  I usually end up getting soaked, but it's one of my favorite times of the day.  {Also because shortly after I get to spend some quality alone time with that guy I mentioned above}

For real, we just love this girl to pieces.  She is so funny and so sweet.  Besides saying "mama" and "dada", intentionally now, all the time....she waves to us too.  And to passing cars, and to the dogs, and to herself in the mirror.  Adorable.

Utah

Remember how Blakely and I went to Utah.  Well, we did.  It was SO much fun!  It was a girls trip to visit with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and 2 nieces.  I will warn you now...there are a ton of pictures.  How could we not take a million pictures of these cute little girls!

I love these girls!  I can't wait for them to be together again.  Maybe next time we'll invite the boys....maybe. 

Blue Ridge

This past week was Jeff's spring break and he was able to get the week off from work too! So, we spent his spring break in the Blue Ridge mountains.  We had such a good time when we went there around the holidays that we were dying to go back for a little relaxation.  It was gorgeous weather while we were there so we were able to hang out outside, grill out and chill in the hot tub when the girl was sleeping.  There's just something about being in the wilderness that Jeff and I just love.  We have always loved to go camping and hiking, pretty much anything outside.  Since Blakely has entered our lives we have had to adjust our outdoorsy activities a little.  I can tell you right now though, this little girl is going to love all things nature too.  I will say that the next family vaca will be at the beach.  As much as I love the mountains, I think I NEED some sand between my toes!
